Billy Bowlegs Pirate Festival 2016 in Fort Walton Beach
Posted on May 25, 2016
Whether you are a long time local to the Emerald Coast or have just purchased Fort Walton Beach real estate and moved to the area, the Billy Bowlegs Festival is something you don’t want to miss. It’s a family favorite and coming up in just two weeks!
A staple festival of the Fort Walton Beach community for over 60 years, Billy Bowlegs is a legendary pirate fiend and who has once again set his sights on capturing our fair city. Captain Billy, his queen and rowdy pirate crew typically sail into town the first weekend in June and spend a week attempting to raid the town. But, with your help, Billy is successfully defeated year after year.
Billy Bowlegs will make his next attempt on the city on Friday, June 3, 2016 when he visits the Fort Walton Beach Landing at 6PM. On this evening, enjoy live music from the stage, as well as vendors and delicious food before Billy makes his first appearance aboard his pirate ship. Be sure to stay on after dark as fireworks light up the night sky.
Billy will continue his attempts to take the town on Saturday, June 4, 2016. Head back down to the Fort Walton Beach Landing for a full day of family fun that includes activities for the kids, cannon demonstrations, entertainment and an exciting skirmish with the pirates! On Monday evening, line the up along Eglin Parkway as Billy marches into town during the Torchlight Parade. Be sure to bring a bag to catch all your pirate booty!
