Buying Tips: Things To Remember
Posted on February 7, 2014
Whether you are setting out to buy a first home in Destin or a tenth there are some key basics you will want to remember. As agents, we’ve seen it all and forgetting minor details can have a major impact on your buying experience.
Our first tip for successfully purchasing Northwest Florida real estate, or any real estate for that matter, is to put down the credit card! Sure, you’ve been frugal while saving for that down payment but don’t forget that information will be verified again before closing. Running up a credit card balance or opening new lines of credit could affect your debt to income ratio and, therefore, your ability to close on the home.
Speaking of preapproval letters, don’t forget that piece of paper was issued based on the information you told your lender. Make sure it is accurate and you know where you really stand. They will investigate your finances thoroughly before closing, and again, we don’t want any surprises.
Finally, remember that buying a home takes time, often much longer than you think? It only takes 30 days to close, right? Well, it depends on your loan type, any issues you come up against during inspections and so much more. Don’t worry, though, the agents at Brad Shoults Real Estate are here and ready to help you successfully purchase your home on the Emerald Coast!
