Northwest Florida FloodingMay 1, 2014
The panhandle of Northwest Florida received rain over the last few days that, for some, is unprecedented. Communities within the area, including Pensacola, Fort Walton Beach, Destin and South Walton, received anywhere from 17-24 inches of rain.
The deluge, record lightning strikes and resulting floods have caused damage to much of the Gulf Coast, including homes and roadways. As the weather passes, waters have begun to recede and repairs to be made.
Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by this weather event. Please stay tuned to local alerts and county road closures. Many roads are still flooded and/or impassable, especially in South Walton and Pensacola. If you are in need of basic supplies, including food, water or shelter, please contact the Red Cross at 1-800-RED-CROSS.
Should you need to reach us at Southern, all of our offices are open for normal business hours today.
