Reasons Your Home Isn’t Selling
Posted on July 8, 2016
The market is hot. People are buying homes for sale in Destin left and right. The only problem is, your home is not one of them. But why, you ask?
The price was comparable to other properties in the area, your realtor even hosted an open house, but you still have not seen an offer trickle in. We don’t doubt that you’ve been told you need to drop the price. That’s always the easiest suggestion for realtors, but the hardest one for homeowners to accept.
We get it. And though, in most cases, reducing the price is usually the best answer, there are other ways to remedy the “why isn’t my home selling?” question.
For starters, you can spruce up the curb appeal. Just imagine showing up to an open house as a buyer and finding dead plants in the yard and a broken porch swing. It doesn’t exactly scream “buy me” to most people.
Repairs and regular old home improvements might help. Granite counters and stainless steel appliances will make a big difference, but it’ll cost you. Whatever you do, let the buyer know. This means include it in the description, on flyers and emails.
If you don’t want to spend any money at all, just remember to depersonalize your home. Neutral settings always make it easier for a person to envision their life in the home, not yours.
