Recover Your Curb Appeal

If you recently purchased a home on the Gulf Coast or have been preparing a property to sell, the recent freezing temperatures have not been welcome, especially if you have just invested time or money into your curb appeal.
While many of our subtropical plants may not weather the winter weather, most will just need a little TLC to bring them back to life. Any plants of shrubs you covered should be okay. If the ends look burned or dead, don’t trim them! As we have learned it could easily freeze again. Those seemingly dead tips and stems will help to prevent the cold from reaching the rest of your plant during the next temp drop. Give them a squirt of liquid fertilizer to help perk them back up instead.
Did your trees freeze and crack? If so, carefully pull away the dead pieces and smooth the edges with a sharp knife. The tree will naturally form a callous to protect itself, helping you protect the curb appeal of your investment property or new home.
