Sunday Fun-day: Where the Locals Go in South Walton

Posted on February 13, 2017

Call Brad Shoults for an insider's guide to South Walton homes and hot-spots.

Buying a home on the Emerald Coast is about more than square footage and amenities. It’s a way of life—a permanent state of paradise. We live for sun-drenched days and crystal clear water, and also, Sundays. Sure, we’re gearing up for the week ahead and our close-toed shoes are patiently waiting, but first, let’s have some fun. Leave it to a beach-town to perfect the art of Sunday Fun-day—and you can too, when you know where the locals go in South Walton.

Wake-up Call: It’s Sunday and you’re not rushing to the office, which means you actually have time to enjoy your morning pick-me-up. Head to AmaVida Coffee Roasters in Seaside or Rosemary Beach, where each cup comes with the satisfaction of fair trade and sustainable farming practices. Choose from specialty blends of signature coffees and loose-leaf teas—the masala chai is outstanding—and give yourself a gentle boost for the day ahead.

Brunch: Alright, you’re awake, you’re caffeinated, and you’re hungry. Let’s get serious, shall we. It’s time to get your brunch on, and in South Walton, brunch is spelled R-E-D B-A-R. The Red Bar is a Grayton Beach staple. For more than 20 years, it has charmed locals and visitors alike with its funky vibe, poster-covered walls, eclectic chandeliers, and simple menu. Go classic with a Belgian waffle or nab some local, fresh seafood with the Gulf shrimp po’boy. Just don’t miss the bloody Mary; hands-down, it’s one of the best on 30A.

Live Music: The weekend isn’t complete without the sounds of local musicians. Get your music fix at The Bay with Sunday Picking from 2-6. Bring the kids, the dogs, and hang out on the outdoor patio for some acoustic goodness. Bonus: it’s happy hour. And the fact that you’re sitting at the water’s edge with panoramic sunset views of the Bay, well, that’s just part of living like a local.

So come hang out with us. Check out these South Walton homes for sale and give Brad a call. And the next time someone asks, what you are doing this weekend, let them in on the locals’ guide to Sunday in South Walton.
