The Destin Bayou, Bay and Beach
Posted on December 30, 2015
If you love to run, we have a fantastic event taking place near your home in Fort Walton Beach that you will definitely want to attend. Register now for the Bayou, Bay and Beach Half Marathon, 10K and 5K event taking place on January 23, 2016.
The USA Track and Field certified courses will begin at Clement Taylor Park at 7:30AM with the start of the half marathon. The runners of this course will follow a beautiful path that winds through the neighborhoods of downtown Destin, along the docks and then down an undeveloped four mile stretch of Okaloosa Island.
The other two courses, a 10K and 5K, will begin at 8:30AM and follow a modified version of the above course. If you happen to have kids that would like to join in on the fun, sign them up for the 1 mile fun run! All entrance fees are currently discounted until the day of the race. The half marathon fee is $60, while the 10K and 5K courses are just $30. Oh, don’t forget to incorporate your costume. The theme of this year’s event is Beach Bums, so floppy hats, floaties, and swim trunks will make for a festive time.
As in year’s previous, the Bayou, Bay and Beach will benefit the Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance, which works to restore and protect the Choctawhatchee Basin Watershed. The kick off party and packet pickup will take place at Fudpucker’s, a local Emerald Coast restaurant, on January 22, 2016. We will to see you at the finish line!
