The Real Estate Commission
Posted on August 12, 2014
There is no question about it, the internet has made the home search easy. Perhaps it has even provided buyers and sellers with the confidence they need to save “6%” and act without a realtor. While there are instances where this can be successful, realtors offer a variety of resources, knowledge and experience to help you sail through your Northwest Florida real estate transactions with relative ease.
So let us talk about this 6% fee. In a nutshell, the real estate commission is the agent’s fee for service. It is a percent of the sale price at the time of listing. This fee is negotiable. Full-service agents charge more than flat-fee agents, but this is often because of the work that is put in. For instance, agents with an in-depth knowledge of the market and those who offer a full scale marketing plan will cost more than those who simply add your home to the MLS.
The key to distinguishing between the two is to know what you want from your agent before you attempt to discuss the commission fee.
At RE/MAX Southern, our agents want you to receive the maximum value for your property within your timeframe. Contact us today for a FREE consultation on how we will sell your home.
